Untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 is released for iOS 5! After the previous untethered jailbreak for A4-based devices on iOS 5.0.1, now it’s turn for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 owners. Yes, you din’t hear it wrong, finally the long waiting is over!
The jailbreaking tool (named Absinthe) is developed and created by the joined effort of the famous hackers from the jailbreak community Chronic Development Team, Pod2g and the iPhone Dev Team. They have made jailbreak simple with this Absinthe, plug in and connect your phone to computer with a USB cable and a single click would do the job.
And as mentioned by the team, it is highly recommended to backup your device before using it. Even though they have done tons and tons of bug testing, there are still slight possibility for it to goes wrong.
At the moment, Absinthe supports the devices with firmware as below:
– iPhone 4S running iOS 5.0 (9A334), 5.0.1 (9A405) and the “other” 5.0.1 (9A406)
– iPad 2 Wifi/GSM/CDMA running iOS 5.0.1 (9A405)
Worth noting that iPhone 4S owners who want to use any software-based carrier unlock their phone in the future, it is advisable to keep your iPhone stay at iOS 5.0. Unless you have updated your iPhone 4S to 5.0.1 and you are on 9A406, it is still possible for you to downgrade the baseband by going to the 9A405 version of 5.0.1 at the moment.
