Untethered Jailbreak iOS 5 for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad

It’s been awhile since Apple iOS 5 released for the public and it marks for another cat and mouse game between the Apple and the jailbreaking community. Many of the jailbreakers have waited eagerly and waited so long for an untethered jailbreak on iOS 5. Until a while ago, the released of untethered jailbreak, Redsn0w 0.9.10b3, is a much rejoicing news to all of the jailbreaker.

The untethered jailbreak, however, only applicable to A4-based devices which is devices like iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod touch 3G/4G and iPad 1. Step-by-step guide can be found on our previous post here. Meanwhile A5 devices users like iPhone 4S and iPad 2 could not jailbreak their devices at the moment and will need to wait for newer jailbreak tools.

A blog post from pod2g mentioned that update for Corona 1.0-5 is currently available in Cydia for all jailbreaker. This newest update fixes both the iBooks issue and launchd socket issue. For users who previously used Corona (version 1.0-3) to untether jailbreak their iPhone, iPad or iPod touch, it is advisable to upgrade your device for the bug fixes.

The bug fixes is also applicable to Redsn0w users. Redsn0w too, has been updated to 0.9.10b4 version which includes the bug fix for iBooks and launchd. It is now available for both Windows and Mac. You can simply re-run the new Redsn0w on your jailbroken device and uncheck “install Cydia” to apply the fixes.
